My three C’s: Compassionate, Collaborative, Comprehensive

Compassionate
I approach clients and families with a compassionate and positive perspective. I collaborate with family members, schools, physicians and other professionals to foster children’s well-being in multiple areas of their lives. After assessing the needs of each child, teen, young adult and family, I develop a personalized, comprehensive treatment plan tailored to their specific needs.

Collaborative
Along with the clients, I also collaborate closely with other professionals working with the family as needed, including pediatricians, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, resource specialists, tutors, psychiatrists, pediatric neuropsychologists, educational psychologists and nutritionists.

I work with school staff, including teachers, counselors, principals and others to advocate for the needs of my clients. I often attend and contribute to school planning, including Student Study Team (SST), 504 Plan and Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings. I have found that my efforts to assist students within the contexts of their schools can be powerful in helping them build the confidence and skills to succeed at school and in other environments.

Comprehensive
My process is comprehensive and considers the whole child within the many important contexts that the child functions.

MY PROCESS

I work closely with my clients to assess their needs, develop goals, create a plan to achieve those goals, and to monitor and evaluate progress throughout treatment. Although my process is tailored to the needs of each individual client, I have a general approach I use to develop an initial treatment plan when working with children and adolescents.

1. Brief telephone screening, at no charge.

2. Initial 90-minute parent intake consultation.

  • Clients are provided a confidential, secure client portal with access to forms, questionnaires, billing information and more, using a unique password.
  • Parents are asked to complete a questionnaire and forms to bring along to the initial intake consultation.
  • Parents complete intake consultation and consent forms.

3.  Clinical assessment of the treatment needs and development of a treatment plan.

  • Two to four 45-minute sessions with the child, teen or young adult
  • One to four hours, or longer, assessment including:
  • Reviewing relevant reports and documents
  • Contacting other professionals as needed
  • Observations as needed

4. Parent feedback 90-minute meeting

  • Treatment plan and goals discussed in collaboration with parents.
  • Additional recommendations are provided as needed.

5.  Implementing the treatment plan:

  • Generally, once weekly 45- to 50-minute sessions for the child, teen or young adult
  • Intensive multiple weekly sessions available when needed
  • Regular parent meetings

When clinically beneficial, I extend my work outside of the office setting, including visiting clients at home, at school, in the community and places in their lives where they may be struggling.

I provide my clients with practice exercises to take home, so that they can try out the tools they are learning in their everyday lives. It is important and critical that they practice their newly learned skills to help them internalize the tools, which assists them in continuing to use them in real-life situations.

FEES AND INSURANCE

My fees are comparable with other highly experienced clinicians in the San Francisco Bay Area. I do not contract with insurance companies; however, clients may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement for my services, depending on their unique insurance plan.  I am considered an “Out of Network” Provider, and I can provide clients a statement or “superbill” to submit directly to their insurance company. It is recommended that clients contact their insurance provider prior to initiating treatment in order to understand their benefit plan

CANCELLATIONS

I request cancellations are provided a minimum of 48 hours prior to any appointment.
